At the moment, all photo software (C1, Adobe, Affinity, DXO etc.) is lumped under 'retouching' within Operating Systems. Would you like it split out into separate categories (forums)? If so, how much granularity would you like? E.G. Put all Adobe s/w in one forum? Have separate ones for Lightroom, Photoshop, Elements?

Your thoughts are appreciated - we want this to be a collaborative effort.

    cheers

Ok - so how about this:

Rename 'retouching' to 'post processing comparisons'.
Have individual forums for each manufacturer. if a manufacturer has more than one (e.g. Adobe), then have a forum for each one.

For now, we can start with:

    Adobe LightRoom
    Adobe Photoshop (& Express)
    Capture One
    DXO
    Affinity
    Gimp
    Luminar
    PaintShop Pro

    What else?

So, a "general post processing tutorial" forum would be useful.

Oops - I meant Elements. Sorry.

I'm out a lot of tomorrow, but I should have time to set the above suggestions up.

I'll try and summarise multiple replies here:

We will have a "General Post-processing Tutorial" section.
I don't want too many application specific forums. So, the major ones will get one. The others will have one between them. If one application becomes the subject of many threads, then we can create another forum for that.
Inside the forum, we can't have more 'sub forums'. We are at the lowest limit already (which is a shame). So JFW's idea of 'leaves' won't work.

I will start off with the forums (categories) mentioned above and see where we get to. They will all be under "Operating Systems Talk"

Thank you for the thoughts. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks. Nothing is set in stone.

The maximum viewable level is 3. I can create more, but you can't see them. Maybe a future enhancement.

There's a "General post Processing" and "General Post processing tutorials". i think they cover that.

I can't go any lower in sections that we have.

It's not difficult to create a new forum at the same level as the one it will replace. But moving threads across takes time (and we are bount to get some wrong).

I'm open to all suggestions and I will discuss it all with you before I do anything if I see anything even vaguely contentious (this is a community forum and your opinions do matter)
